I generally accelerate fairly quickly but with the skip shift on older GM cars, you basically had to have it floored to avoid the skip shift. It's not always practical to have to do this.

I know there are alot of Gen 5 owners out there who hate it as well.

I won't say it completely throws a wet blanket on the 2011 GT because I'm still gonna get one w/ the manual, but it's slightly disappointing that skip shift is gonna be on it. Sometimes I like to ride third around town (without having to accelerate like a mad man) and listen to the exhaust.

I would think it goes by rpms. So, I wonder where stopping point of using the skip shift is on the rpm scale.

Does that mean if I'm driving sensibly I don't have a 2nd or 3rd? That's retarded. I don't often push things over 3000 rpm....but I like the throttle response if I need it.

I have driven plenty of Corvettes and Camaros with Skip-Shift, while irratating it is not the end of the world. The 4th gen F-bodies it could be a PITA but in the 2010 SS a minor adjustment in shifting style it never kicks in (just give it a little more more that 1/8 throttle). Just think without it you would not be seeing a 416 HP 6 speed Mustang in 2011, so it is just time for the Ford crowd to have to deal with it. It is used to get to keep the Mustang GT out of having to pay Gas Guzzler tax, you want to sent the government a extra 1200 bucks?

Basically Ploe, you're right. That's what a manual transmission is isn't it?

yup, i agree with ploe, only an auto should force you what gear to go in.

Doesn't it feel like slowly but surely they're taking the real fun out of manual cars? The previous Civic's clutch I had grabbed well, but was very sensitive. In the Mustang, I feel like it helps me shift and not feel any imperfections in my shifting.

But wouldn't this cause the car to bog being in 4th gear going 30mph? I wouldn't think this would help fuel economy since to pick up any speed, you'll practically be flooring it.

Well if you look at cars nowadays, there's so many features where the car is nearly driving itself.
There's abs, tractioncontrol, stability control, some cars have sensors where it beeps oif your close to another car. And now there's manual trannys where the computer is forcing you what gear to go in
