I got a locking gas cap and if possible I would like to take the lanyard that hangs the old gas cap to the gas door and attach it to the new cap. I'm not quite sure how to take it off without breaking it short of heating it up a lot so it's pliable and will stretch off the old one and go onto the new one. But who knows how that will turn out.

Anyone else done this?

 

you would likely have better luck with this in the 2005-09 section as the 2010+ dont have gas caps.
