Default Rear window louvers

How many have the plastic textured louvers and wish they had gone with the aluminum ones instead. I'm going to get some but trying to decide which ones to get.

I wasn't happy with the look of the ABS plastic rear window louvers and not sure how well they'd hold up to being painted. I picked the Astra-Hammond aluminum.

The aluminum ones are the best and if you get the ones with the hinge, it's even better. I had it on my '82 5.0 and loved the fact that you could easily clean the back glass.

I have Visus' rear louver (Bought from Cervini's) with the hinges. I absolutely love em!

I still have to buy the stand to prop it up so I can clean the back window easier.

I'm surprised that they didn't come with the louvers. Mine did....they folded up in the middle and had a clamp that held them into place. You had to unscrew the bolts on each side first, then lift the louvers and pull the props out. Took like 2 minutes, but well worth it to have a clean back glass. Not only that, but you could wipe down the inside of the louver as well.

Holy ****. I didn't even check, lol. I'll have to go outside and take a look. I usually put a thick towl on my roof and flip the louver over
It was kinda scary trying to unhinge them at first. The instructions didn't mention anything about the prop or how to unhinge, so it took me a little bit to figure it out, lol.

But thanks for letting me know. I was about to purchase the one from AM

Yeah check to see if they are there. The ones I had were from 1982, so they may be doing something different with them now.

There's a few plastic rear window louvers on craigslist around here for ~$100. Is the general consensus not to bother with the plastic ones?

I ended up getting the Astra Hammond aluminum louvers on Amazon for about $400.00. I went with the aluminum simply because I didn't like the way the plastic ones looked. IMO the plastic ones just look cheap. Plus they don't last near as long as the aluminum.
