lol dont get me wrong, i sort of phrased that wrong. since you have enough for a s197 V6 or new edge gt i would go with the new edge gt. Get a 2001 or 99 since its the same body style and probably much less.

You can probably get a new edge GT less than $10k. There was someone in my club trying to sell a mineral gray (sexy color) for under that. I don't know the full details though, exactly how much they were asking for, if it's been sold already, etc, but the boys were working on it yesterday.

I believe they do come in screaming yellow.

I have had both styles, and to be honest with you, I would take my 05 GT over the sn95 GT anyday. Not only does it have more power, but it handles much better, has a better manual tranny setup, and the interior is far nicer and more comfortable than the sn95 model. If price is an issue, getting the older style would probably be a better alternative right now at your age. There is nothing wrong with the sn95's, but the 197's IMO are the better Stangs. I also like the 60's retro looks of the 197's. Old School.

I don't think he's asked stupid questions, I just think he's asked about every possible broad, generalized question regarding makes and models of mustangs. Matafy seems very nice. He just needs to be a little more specific about what it is he needs to ask. In another section he asked about an '04 cobra vs an '05 gt. If you find a cobra around $10k Matafy, and it isn't totalled, you are the man.

from the sounds of it, and your age, i would suggest a good 04 GT. maybe a 45th anniversary.
but 1st and foremost you should get something you can afford.
in the new edge mustangs, mods will be a little cheaper, and dont need all the computer reflashing that the s197's need.
the new edge have a great sound to them too, with the mufflers midmounted unlike the s197's.
bottom line is get what you can afford, as long as it's a Mustang!

if u really want an s197 keep looking, there are clean GTs under 15k at this point im sure. Since I bought my 05 GT last year with 15k miles for 15k and I know prices have came down since then

^^^
I will keep my eyes wide open. But at this point I will have no remorse if I get a New Edge 2004 over a 2005 S197
