Default tuning $$$

I have read alot of posts w the pros and cons of tuning, is a $350 tuner gonna make a difference in my 06 GT? only have a CAI and flowmasters. not gonna put a supercharger on it so what can I expect form HP and torque gains from factory? what about shift points?

Some people have gained between 15rwhp-600rwhp from the addition of a tune on their car. You have an auto? The people that create the tunes can adjust shift poitns.

Oh, even with an 87 octane tune with a CAI, YOU will feel the difference. I went with Brenspeed tunes and I love it.

I definitely can feel the difference between stock and tuned. Shift points are a lot sharper and improved. Since you have a CAI already, the tuner will really help you get the full power from it. The only real con I can think of is I that step on it a lot more = poor mpg

If money is the issue, look around on the classified section or CL/ebay for a used tuner that is unlocked

I love the firm shifting and fast throttle response. Really had to change my driving style to keep from spinning my tires at the stoplight lol.

What brand cai do you have already? When I bought the car it had an Airaid intake with no tune, and it was not much different than stock as far as I could tell.

I would look at the classifieds and pick up a used intake then add the tune. I picked up a lightly used steeda intake and an sct x3 for $385. Then another $99 for 3 tunes from brenspeed. HUGE improvement over stock.

Your CAI isn't doing squat w/o a tune. A good Tune (Brenspeed, AM/BAMA, Tillman) with that CAI will net you about 15-25 RWHP or more over stock. The mufflers don't add any performance.

And I agree with the above statement that even the 87 octane custom tune kicks azz over the stock 87 tune. And it gets incrementally better as you go up in octane.

Lol damn, makes me want to try 91 octane. BTW, how much other octane gas can you leave in the tank before switching to a different octane tune and filling up?

Just to be safe I always run at least 2 full tanks of the higher octane gas before I switch the tune. Eh, but maybe I am just a worry wort

Ok so several options on the tuner. so what exactly does the tuner do to the computer? can it be reversed? will the gas milage suffer? sounds so simple cannot understand why it costs so much. can I use the tuner on another Gt? my only experience is with a diesel truck and a bullydog and wow what a diffference. personally I don't like the throttle lag......with a fly by wire system I am waiting for the toyota throttle problem to happen. I would also like to change the shift points. any help would be great. Thanks
