Question Any mechanical or performance reason not to get an 05 GT?

I am going be buying a new to me GT in the next month or so and despite hours on the net I am unable to find clear info on this. I heard there was a shifting or tranny issue with the 05 that was fixed in 06. I can not find any details on it all tho.

I really like the mineral gray color that only came in 05 and so I am considering taking a little longer in the search to find one with low miles. Not at the expense of a serious first year bug or bugs tho.

So what are the downsides to going with an 05 model besides the obvious of age and miles? I can afford an 05, 06 and prolly an 07 but 08's are a bit out of my price range.

Anything I should know that really makes one of those years the preferred one to get?

Thanks for your time and experience.

Rob

Read the TSB's in the sticky so you know what issues to look for. There are a couple that are performance related (fuel pump, for one). One of the other biggies is the water leak. Left alone, it will eventually cause electrical issues with a hefty price tag to repair.

Been reading them over but yet to see one on a fuel pump. May not have gotten to it yet.

Judging by the color you want, I can tell you're
going in the right direction.

On a serious note, I've had my 05 for over 3 years
and 53,000 miles without any major issues *knocks
on wood*.

I dont personally have an 05 but the manager of my old store does and he hasnt had any issues i know of. I think people just dont feel safe buying a car the first year of a new model because they havent worked "bugs" out but as far as i know you should be fine with one.

I would just try to find one with low miles.

BTW mineral grey is a BADASS color the v6 i just traded in was a 2005 and mineral grey. Love that color but i seem to be one of the few.

Love my new blue GT tho more lololol.
