I have long thought the 2008 & 09 radio units had a much upgraded look with the chrome on the ***** which matches the chrome on the ducts above. Much nicer look than my 2007. I have been considering an upgrade for some time. (on ebay from time to time) I am aware there is an antenna adapter which may be required but I have also read in some forums where reprogramming is required from the dealer when a change like this is make.

Does anybody know for sure if the reprogramming is needed ??? Thanks.

 

I swapped the head unit on my '06 with Shaker 500 with one from an '08 about 6 mos. ago. All I needed was the antenna adapter, no re-programming was necessary. You are correct, the '08 radio looks much better and the chrome rings exactly matches the vents. Go for it.
