Default GT500 Strut tower brace under stock hood - VERDICT

well ive been contemplating buying a GT500 brace for some time now so i ended up doing some google searches on whether it will fit with the stock hood....

among the forums posts that came up, i came up on a few posts made where the OP said they installed it and the bar dented the hood when they closed it.....

reading this kinda put me on my toes so i did a bit more research....there were about 50% saying it would fit without hitting the hood and 50% saying it hits....

well our local mustang club here in central florida www.stangforce.com had a meet at lakeland hooters and one of our members brought a GT500 brace to sell....

we installed it on the car there in the parking lot and found that it fits nicely and DOES NOT hit the hood....

im sure the bar will rub the hood liner a bit but it wont dent the hood.....

as far as fitment with plenum covers im not 100% sure, but it clears my m90 s/c by 3/4" so my guess is youll be fine....

ill see about getting some pics up tomorrow....

if anyone is interested in getting a GT500 bar, u can get them as newtakeoffs for less than $30 shipped from the link below...

I installed one on my car with the factory hood, some time back. I could not close the hood without a signifcant amount of force, and was uncomfortable with the damage it was doing to the hoodliner (not the hood). I decided to put it on backwards, and the hood closed without issue.

Either put it backwards or when you do put it the correct direction place a washer on the back post on each shock tower to tilt it forward to clear hood.
