I did the same thing because of the same logic. If I get tired of them I can take them off. I will say that I found the backing on the tape to be a bit of a challenge to remove following the instructions. So on the 2nd side I removed it prior to placing the cover on. Much easier.

I painted them myself and got the paint from the body shop at Ford. The covers were $59 each and I wrapped up about $30 in paint materials. Paint, primer, clear etc...

I think they look good on those two cars but I don't think I would like them on my screaming yellow GT.
BTW, that is the best looking red '05 I have seen--very nice. I've been wondering if my ride would look better with black rims over these stock ones.

How thick are these covers? I was going to sand and paint my mirrors but if these covers are thin and do not look like an afterthought, I might purchase a pair. They look good in the picture.
