TPMS sensors and moving them
Okay so I am getting foose rims this weekend and was wondering if i should buy a new set of the sensors and deal with taking it to the dealer to get recalibrated or if i could just use the sensors from my 19inch wheels. The new wheels are 20 inch so i dont know if that makes a diffrence either. yalls help would be great.
If you transfer the sensors from your old wheels, you will need to get a valve stem kit first as you will not be able to reuse yours. The only valve stems for the 10 sensors that I could find were from Ford and they hit me over the head for 40 bucks for them. I got a reasonable rate of 60 bucks to swap them over from my old rims. Ifin I had to do it all over again, I would have just got the sensors already in the rims. I think there is a do it yourself procedure for adapting new sensors.
You can try to find aftermarket too. $40ea free shipping if you buy 4.

I dont know if they are the cheapest.
I think Ford wants I think $30-40 for just replacement stems. Ouch....

I've had 3 different cars with tpms.
Ive never had a tire place be able to swap them. They're pretty sensitive and most places will tell you buying new ones is just easier but more expensive. 80-90 bucks each with stems, at least. Most will "try" to successfully swap 'em if you ask but don't count on it working out.
I see you're in Texas so I'm assuming the wheels will be on year round? If so and you REALLY want tpms I'd say buy new ones. Personally I'd just check my tires the old fashion way like I do during spring/summer. (factory wheels go on for winter which have the tpms sensors).

Okay well sounds like if i want to keep sensors get new ones but here is another question if i dont go with them at all then how would i get rid of the light on the dash or whatever goes off and tells you low tire pressure
You just have to hit reset whenever the light goes off. The 10 sensors are different than earlier versions, so they swap over easy. Some people have made a PVC tank with thier sensors inside, then charged it with air and thrown it in the trunk to keep the system from tripping.
I wish I could tell ya lol. I'm assuming the tire place did it for me on my '10 because I have no light on for it whatsoever. Or maybe it just doesn't display if it doesn't read a sensor present? Not sure, but like I said, no light on mine.
a tech a TK did the swap for me for 100bux. He had the stems in hand from his own stash, so he basically did the whole procedure on the side. The price included the swap and mount n balancing of the new wheels. I think if you can get the whole thing set up from the get go it will save you the pain. I think I saved 100-120 bux but i had to go the twice as he only had 3 stems day 1 and returned the next day for the remaining swap! I rode with the light on for one day and once he put in the forth sensor its been charm since then.
I dont see how the tpms sensor are going to work with the Foose rims. They dont have regular valve stems, the valves are inside the rim (u have to use a special metal stem to check/add air). They really are a pain to check the fronts because of the rotors, u have to take them off the car. I love the look of them but i wish I had done some more reseach before I bought them!!
