I am REALLY considering a SC too.
It will come sooner or later.

But mine is for my DAILY driver.
I want to hit over 450 Rwhp but at the same time I don't want to risk
blowing the engine.

Dunno what boost rate is safe for not risking the engine and
what can get me to that hp at a safe level of boost.
And YES. I WANT THE LOUD WHINE.

P.S. Did anyone notice Whipple claims their SC's are the quietest in the industry?

Mine is a gen 1 as well, but I'd be lying if I said it was quiet. When at full boost, she screams like a banshee.

Reason 2 is a 3.5" pulley?

Calling an E-Force a roots isn't exactly accurate. Its a TVS. Same thing that's in a Corvette ZR-1.

I think a magnacharger or the 1st gen Techco (no longer made) might be the only SC's louder than a whipple at WOT. And I'm only referring to WOT in all these discussions. Most SCs can't be heard at idle and part throttle.

My car is also a daily driver. The car isn't under boost all the time. Every supercharger has a blow-off valve that keeps the boost out of the engine until you press the throttle hard.

With reasonable daily driving activity, I'm never in boost. Little more throttle and I can barely into boost. Little more throttle and I can get up to say 5psi. Little more throttle and I can be at 8psi, etc.

The blowoff valve isn't just on-off. It can be partially open or closed as well.

Too many times people discuss twin-screw/roots/TVS superchargers as if they're all-boost or nothing. That's not the case at all. It can be the case if I want it to be - just put that right foot on the floor! But it can be driven just as conservatively with just as little engine stress as a totally stock car.

Actually, it's 100% accurate. All Eaton TVS's are roots superchargers.

Personally I'd rather not have whine but you can't beat the look of a polished whipple. It would be a hard decision for me too.

I still want to see someone shoehorn an 8-71 on a 3v, lol! I have no idea if it's even remotely possible though.

exactly, the new TVS's are simply more efficient designs than the previous blowers but they're all roots type blowers.

I vote for the Kenne Bell but that's not what you guys are talking about seriously though I would go twin screw over any other type of supercharger for their efficiency and power potential. even at lower boost levels the twin screw will provide more power and lower intake temps. the lower intake temps will make more power and also reduce the knock potential making the whole system safer.

the Edelbrock looks great installed though, very neat and clean, but that wouldn't be enough to sway me.
