Edelbrock vs. Whipple
#21
I am REALLY considering a SC too.
It will come sooner or later.
But mine is for my DAILY driver.
I want to hit over 450 Rwhp but at the same time I don't want to risk
blowing the engine.
Dunno what boost rate is safe for not risking the engine and
what can get me to that hp at a safe level of boost.
And YES. I WANT THE LOUD WHINE.
P.S. Did anyone notice Whipple claims their SC's are the quietest in the industry?

My car is also a daily driver. The car isn't under boost all the time. Every supercharger has a blow-off valve that keeps the boost out of the engine until you press the throttle hard.
With reasonable daily driving activity, I'm never in boost. Little more throttle and I can barely into boost. Little more throttle and I can get up to say 5psi. Little more throttle and I can be at 8psi, etc.
The blowoff valve isn't just on-off. It can be partially open or closed as well.
Too many times people discuss twin-screw/roots/TVS superchargers as if they're all-boost or nothing. That's not the case at all. It can be the case if I want it to be - just put that right foot on the floor! But it can be driven just as conservatively with just as little engine stress as a totally stock car.

Personally I'd rather not have whine but you can't beat the look of a polished whipple. It would be a hard decision for me too.
I still want to see someone shoehorn an 8-71 on a 3v, lol! I have no idea if it's even remotely possible though.

Actually, it's 100% accurate. All Eaton TVS's are roots superchargers.

I vote for the Kenne Bell but that's not what you guys are talking about seriously though I would go twin screw over any other type of supercharger for their efficiency and power potential. even at lower boost levels the twin screw will provide more power and lower intake temps. the lower intake temps will make more power and also reduce the knock potential making the whole system safer.
the Edelbrock looks great installed though, very neat and clean, but that wouldn't be enough to sway me.
