I see our manual says to cover the fuse box. Is that necessary even though it is covered?

 

Geez, how dirty is your engine compartment that you have to use degreaser and water pressure on the fuse box?

I use a 60 degree tip on a pressure washer after applying a light degreaser. I cover the alternator. An advantage of the pressure washer is you can control the spray fairly well. I don't spray the PCM but have sprayed the fuse box and air cleaner mounting box. Never had a problem and did this probably 50 times. The only time I had a problem is when I went to a self-serve car wash. Those things put out too much water.

 

It's not the wax, it's the WD40, lol.

 

Haha no thankfully my engine bay is not as dirty as I made it seem. I was just curious because as I overlooked the manual I noticed the 3 main areas that they recommend should be covered for cleaning the engine. So I was just curious if it was really necessary since it already comes covered. Thanks for the tips though I'll keep that in mind when I wash my engine bay this weekend.

 

I cleaned mine today. No issues. Cleaned and dressed everything. Looks better than new. Didn't even cover the alternator; I just avoided spraying water in that area. I did mop up the water in the plug wells when I was done rinsing. Started right up and ran fine. No issues, Just be prudent with the water spray. I used the fan jet setting on my garden hose.
