Default Walkthrough for Homelink mirror w/compass/temp?

I've had this rearview mirror sitting in my garage for a while and am thinking about installing it myself. it's the Homelink Autodim Rearview mirror with compass and temp that I got from the Ford Accessories website.

Can anyone direct me to a good walkthrough for it?

you should be able to splice it into the harness under the headliner for your dome light.

Typically they need a switched power source so the mirror goes off with the key. Otherwise battery may die. You'll need to run wire in the headliner (there's already a notch in it for the wire) and down the A-pilllar to get a switched source near the fuse box.

I installed a aftermarket auto dimming mirror with compass and temperature readout as my base GT didn't have a compass. The hardest part is getting the old mirror off!

I installed a takeoff compass mirror from a Shelby. The hardest part was getting the old mirror off. Takes a bit of force with a skinny screwdriver inserted at the bottom of the mirror mount. Kinda of scary! My mirror had a short jumper wiring harness with a plug for the mirror on one end and small plug on the other. When I pulled the upper map light console I found an empty connector that fit the jumper plug. Very simple install! I don't know if Ford has the plug pre-wired for the Homelink and temp though as my mirror does not have these features. I would suspect that if your Mustang is wired the same as mine, and your accessory mirror has the short jumper that mine did, all the features would work except for the temp. That would require you to run two wires to the front of the radiator for the external temperature sensor. The first thing I would do is to pull the overhead console and check for pre-existing wiring. Worse case scenario: all you need to find is a good ground and a switched 12V to power the mirror. Then run the 2 wires to the external temperature sensor. Good luck with your install.
