Default Help with whining trans... 5 speed

My trans whines. I have an 06 5 speed GT all stock except my steeda shifter which was installed by Steeda in Pompano about 2 months after I bought the car new.

The trans whines. As long as the car is moving it whines, doesn't matter if you are in neutral, clutch in but still in gear, clutch in and in neutral etc. Only time it stops is when I come to a stop. It made a rattling sound on and off and now almost a knocking.

Trans is fine though, shifts perfect, gears blend with no issues, clutch is not slipping.

Any idea? It's getting to the point I have to take her in and that means studying my power-train warranty and dealing with Fords bs.

Any ideas? ok about 38k miles on it.

I'm taking mine over to Steeda, but mine comes and goes. My guys who run a Mustang shop in NJ tell me likely two causes. Output shaft bearing or one of drive shaft connections.

I dunno. It's gone for now but comes back on longer drives. It worries me.

Mine whines a lot too. I thought it was gear whine at first but it def comes from the front of the car. It could also be the rear end making noise since yours probably doesnt have the dampers for reducing noise. Also they put what looks like a wool blanket in the tunnel which greatly reduces whine on the newer mustangs (07 or 08+) and put the dampers on the back axle.

EDIT: nevermind I dont think your car was affected by that but you could look for them.

Yep, the underside is different on the pre 07s.
The dampeners are not there nor is the tranny tunnel insulation.
I would check the mounting bolts on the driveshaft flanges first
for proper torque values. 79 Ft Lbs, I think....
Mine came loose and the clunking was unbearable even on an 07 model...
