Unhappy Securilock Anti Theft blinking?!?!

hi all, i need some help here.

My 2005 Mustang GT sits for too long in my garage. I drove it a few months ago and i could hear the heater blower having problems. it would decrease the flow of air then increase over and over. then the headlights were dimming. i barely made it home. a few days later i started her up and she was fine. i went to start her up again last week and nothing...the keyless entry wouldn't even work. i tried starting it up w jumpers from my wife's car. she started up but when i disconnected the cables from the battery she died.

i was hoping it was the battery. i took it to AutoZone. it was stone dead and was not holding a charge so they gave me a new one. i just installed it and now i have the Anti-Theft System light blinking on my dashboard and it still won't start. the keyless entry system still won't work and no interior lights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also i had the computer replaced last year but it seemed to be running fine for months afterwards.

How did you get Autozone to give you a battery? They always charge me.

i popped the battery out of my Mustang and drove it there w my truck. they tested it...it was dead...they charged it and it wouldn't hold a charge so they gave me a new one. it was only 1 year old. the transaction couldn't have been less painless.

last night before i went to bed i noticed the brake lights were on and power was getting sent to the sub in my trunk bc i could hear it. once i loosened the battery cables the sub stopped making noise but the brake lights didn't go off. i had to take the cables completely off the positive terminal for them to go out.

any ideas?

If you have a battery charger leave battery disconnected
from car and hook up charger for a day, some aren't fully
charged after sitting in store, then see what happens.
Any time my car is going to sit for more than a day I
have battery tender hooked up.

good tip. i'll try that. i just jumped it again and it started up relatively quickly.

one thing that seemed a little strange to me was the radio went on right away even tho i had it turned off.

i do have a battery charger but it isn't that good. can someone recommend a good one?

i also have no experience w a battery tender. is this a good one?

any time that the battery is disconnected for long enough, the radio will come on to the am band when the battery is reconnected.

The stang pulls amps when sitting.
This will kill a battery fast
If you have the shaker 500 or 1000,
it is worse.
If you leave it on when you turn off the stang, that is also not good.
The battery situation has been covered 100s of times before.
Search 'battery tender' or 'dead battery syndrome' to see the posts.

You probably already have your answer by now, but if not, when it doesn't start (no int. lights, keyless entry, etc) try disconnecting the battery for a few mins. then put the key in the ignition, reconnect the battery, & let it sit for 15 mins or so. Then it should start. I have to do this about twice a week> That PATS thing is a turd!!

I sure hope so, since the thread was started over two years ago.
