Which is faster??
If you want good 1/4 and 0-60 times then you need to pay attention to torque. Torque is rotational acceleration which translates into acceleration
horse power wins shows, torque wins races.

you cant just ask whats faster a supercharged 05gt vs XXX? I seen plenty of SC'd cars do horrible at the track due to traction there is too many variables in this question. I put work in on 03 cobra's with my s197 due to my driving kills and lack of skills on the other end so HP isnt everything, its how you drive your car, reaction time,60ft time etc.
But if your asking if Mario Andretti was some-how driving both cars then yes I will pick the SC car due to all reasons posted b4.

You'd need to know the exact gear ratios in both transmissions (and the axle ratios and tire size in both) before you can make any comparisons like that. It is possible to mislead yourself rather badly by making assumptions like this (that if a thing has more of something that it must be better/faster/whatever). Sometimes it's true, other times it isn't.
I'm not really sure what you mean by "go through the power band quicker". If the 'steps' between gears in the 6-speed are tighter than in the 5-speed, then the revs won't drop as much on upshift and you'd probably spend less time in each gear partly because you start out at a higher rpm in each. And the average torque over the time spent in each gear would be a little higher. But this is not guaranteed, as there is no requirement whatsoever that the first five gears in the 6-speed must be spaced tighter than their 5-speed counterparts.

I know that the 2011 has been rumored to have more hp, and i know it has a 6 spd compared to my 5 spd, but i was talking hypothetically to compare them completely the same. I wanted to know if there would be a difference between 2 exact cars (weight, gears, hp, tq, etc. track conditions, blah, blah, blah) but one is boosted and the other isn't. I only picked the 2011 since it has so much more power than the 05. Obviously everyone said the sc'd one has the better torque curve, and i understand it sucks if you dont have traction, i just dont know $hit about supercharged cars so wanted a comparison.
Ok, this is mostly hypothetical. I didnt look up specs on the 2011 mustang but just say its exactly the same weight as my 2005 gt and the stock engine for the 11 gets 412hp and say I got a supercharger that put me exactly at 412 hp. which would be faster considering they have the same hp/tq and same weight but one is supercharged and one is not, or would they be the same?and by faster i mean 0-60, 1/4
) and shifts take time. my GT stock with 3.55's and I was still in third gear at the end of the 1/4 mile, not shifting into 4th had to be saving me at least a couple 1/10th's. the time saved by not shifting could offset the time that the 6-speed would gain since you're shifting more.again it's all bench racing and with a million variables you can't really say either way. the simple answer is to get the blower for your GT and just run more power than the 11 GT
I'm at 473whp right now so I can't wait for an 11 GT to pull up next to me and rain on his parade
