i found this out today when i got to work...i was in my trunk getting something out and went to lock the doors and as i checked for the lights to flash or horn honk there was none..it seems you cant lock the car with the trunk open..but once you close the trunk the lights will flash and horn will honk depending on how many times you pressed the keyless entry lock button...interesting i guess it is so you dont lock your keys in the trunk or whatever

I found out that I can't use the keyless trunk remote to open the trunk for a friend while the car was running, with me driving . I don't think it's distance related, cause I turned off the engine and it immediately popped open for him. Guess it's another safety factor.
I also changed my alarm to pop the trunk when I push the button, not to make me hold it down for 3 LONG seconds...

HOW did you make that change - Mine does that and it drives me bonks sometimes!

 

Went and tried both trunk open and locking door and car running and open trunk. Both worked for me with no problem. You might to reset your remotes. There is a section in your owners manual that tells you how to program the keyless remotes. If you can't find it here are the directions.
1. Take both sets of keys and remotes
2. Insert a key in ignition
3. Turn key to on then off 8 times within 10 seconds
4. On the 8th turn leave the key in the on position
5. Locks should go up and down
6. Within 3 seconds lock button on 1st remote
7. Within 3 seconds press unlock button on second remote
8. Turn off car remotes should be programed
