Default Buying a used Mustang

As I have searched for a Mustang to buy (Im keying in on 2007 models) I am running across alot of cars with low mileage, 10-15k, that have already found their way to auction. Is this common? Two that I have come across have had some repairs done to them. One was the GT R that I mentioned in another thread. I passed on that one due to multiple replaced body panels among other things. I have now located another one, 2007 with 15k, but the AutoCheck report indicates a repair. I am awaiting a response as to the nature of the repair.

I am also finding these low mileage but over 3 yr old vehicles seem to be, in my opinion, priced way to high. 07 model, built in 06, repaired to some degree priced at 22k+. Thats not to far off the cost of a new GT and I am under the impression that a new car loses about 30% of its value as it drives off the lot.

Any opinions on pricing, auctions, repaired vehicles?

There is no such thing as a Mustang GT R, by the way.

actually there is...sort of. Turns out it was an aftermarket package installed by a company called Regency, hence the R designation.

Bought mine in January from a dealer, an 06 with 14,8xx miles. Yes, I paid too much, but I like what I bought.

19,240$ was the negotiated price, about 19,500$ out the door with fees. In the mid-East coast though, the land of inflated prices on cars...

What do you guys think of this deal? They have had it on the lot for 2 mos already and they have verified that the accident report on the autocheck is incorrect. I was going to offer 18k and see if they bite.

YOU should verify the accident report is incorrect. Not them.

Isn't that the truth... The cheapest I've seen a S197 GT was high $15k and that was with ~78,000mi.

Be sure you're aware of the pile of TSB's associated with this model, particularily the water leak TSB.

An '07 GT shouldn't run more than $17k- $18k, even with a few bolt-ons.
