Oil Test Kit and Seafoam
#11
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm going to inspect the spark plugs and clean the MAF first, then go from there. Any other suggestions for discovering the reason for engine pinging?

I would also caution
On the use of additives. I think you are wise to look elsewhere for the ping. However, if you must use anything that is susposed to clean your engine, do it at least two tanks of fuel PRIOR to your oil change. The chemicals that are susposed to clean your engine will also dillute your oil which, is not good especially around bearings. It is always possible for some fuel additive to get into your oil especially in older cars with more chance of leak down. In any event, think it through and do research prior to putting cleaner into the engine.

Seafoam in the fuel tank - now that's where the magic is made. It won't do much on a 5 year old car, as everything is still pretty new, but on older cars it can really help with varnish build-up, sticky injectors, etc.
Ain't it a great age where we can honestly say that a 5 year old car is "pretty much still new"? Fantastic.
