There are more than one dealers in your area hopefully, so I'm sure another one can challenge that $238 rip off quote...

The keys run from $75-150 in the Ford catalogue. And then add the labor charges...and I can see where they get that $238 charge.

it is Male Bovine Fecal Matter...but there are alot of stupid people out there who will pay that without even questioning it.

You can get a fob on ebay for $15 and program it yourself. It's very easy and you only need one key to do it.

I'd also look for a blank key on ebay and then get it programed and cut by ford or whoever. I will never again buy any parts through the dealer

Thanks for the replies everyone! I went ahead and bought a fob on Ebay for 12 bucks. I'll search for a transponder key on Ebay in a bit and take it to the dealer for programming when I get it.

Frontier Ford was the first place I called. They wanted $138 for labor, $70 for the fob, and $30 for the key.

Actually, the second place I called wanted more at $245. Haha Yeah right!

Last time I was in Wal-Mart in the automotive section, I saw where they made keys for your car. I asked the guy if they sold keys for Mustangs. He asked me what year, I told him, he looked it up and said yes. I asked him would it work and he said yes.

Has anyone with two keys gotten a spare key made from Wal-Mart? Did it work?

I have two but I would like to have a spare for just in case.

Where did you buy the car from? try calling the salesman who sold you the car. When i bought my car the salesmen told me if i needed a spare key to call him and he could do it for $25

Sorry, I have failed you in my advice then.
IF it was in Orlando, I could find a dealer that would take care of that for a lot less.

Then again, IF my sister had a set of b@lls, she wouldn't be exactly my sister, lol.

Good luck regardless.

If wally world CAN CUT THE METAL PART OF THE KEY and it has the PATS chip and you have
2 original working keys then you can programm the new key yourself. It must physically
turn in the ignition switch before programming can occure.
Owners Manual for all the needed info on key programming or READ THE POST ABOVE.
BUT...
One key =s a trip to Ford Dealership for PCM programming...
Or get a new PCM with matching keys for over $1,000. (no RKE fobs)
And you still have to go to the stealership for that...

Your advice didn't fail Pascal. I decided to give it another shot and called a 3rd dealer (Sunnyvale Ford) and they only charged me $70 for the programming and $27.95 for the key. Third time's a charm like they say. I now have two keys again. I'm going to buy a couple more keys on Ebay and program them myself for spares. They also did the passenger air bag recall while I was there.

I went by there again today and talked to another person....she said it would not work.
I have two working keys, I just want to get another spare.
