Default Tube in the trunk?

Has anyone put a bass tube in the trunk of their 2010?

In the past, I have put an amplified bass tube in the trunk of my cars -- simply splicing off of one of the rear speakers. I then turn the 'gain' up on the tube so that the car is thumping as high as I could want it when the stock radio's bass adjustment is only half way.

In that manner, the bass can then be turned way down most of the time, putting only mids and highs through the other speakers while getting good bass response from the trunk.

It won't win awards, but it's very functional and cost effective.

Problem here, I don't see a great place in the trunk to mount it, given the spare tire cover takes up most of the room. Has anyone mounted a tube in the trunk? Also, where did you pull power from for the amp?

I was thinking about putting one in, but now i will wait for the Shelby/Kicker bass enclosure for the 2010.

Take a look at the JL Audio Stealthbox that is made for the 2010 Mustang.

The JL stealthbox is a nice box, but it is not amplified and it cost around 700 bucks. The Shelby/Kicker box comes with a 200 watt amplifier and cost around 650, connects to the Shaker 500 system, and is lightweight. I think I will go with the Shelby/Kicker.

By "connects to the Shaker 500," what exactly do you mean? Do our stereos have a 'sub out' feature on them that can be accessed?

The Stealthbox is also selling direct from JL Audio for $629 with free shipping this month. Both are good and both hook up to the sub out like mentioned.

I'm really curious about the 'sub out.' Where is it located exactly?

There isn't one. You would have to tap into the existing speakers with a hi-low line out converter. This is the one I am currently using on my 2010 GT with the JL Audio Stealthbox and JL Audio 500v1/2 amp: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SLC4/Scosche-SLC4.html

The only place in the '10 I can think of to put a tube so it looks at least somewhat decent/ out of the way is sideways right behind the seats after that little hump. I'd even carpet it probably. As far as the sub out I have no idea how the shakers work (I assume thats what you have?)

I don't think that little hump behind the seats is large enough to fit a tube. That would be ideal, though.
