Default MGW ordered!

So, as some of you know the shifter linkage broke on my GT. After much consideration I have decided to order an MGW short throw shifter. Essentially, it was the same price as the Hurst Billet. I have not heard a single bad word on MGW whereas there are threads dedicated to the Hurst problems. Right or wrong, Ill find out in two days! For those MGW owners, any issues with the install? Any tips for us noobs that have never put in a shifter before?

Oh for those people on the fence about this shifter, it was 275 + shipping for the new MGW s197 shifter and white shift ball. Cant beat that imo...

One thing, there is a small stud that goes through the bottom of the shifter. This is part of the factory linkage, not the MGW shifter. you put this stud through the shifter and a locknut (I think it has a built in washer on the nut) secures it. Some people over torque this nut and snap off the stud. I put thread locker on it and torqued it to spec. Just be careful, it's a real PITA if you break it.

make sure to lower the transmission as shown in the vid.... my car is pretty slammed and there would have been no way i could have fit the shifter over the transmission had it not been lowered an inch or two. This was the first time I had ever done a shifter install before, but it was very easy... congrats

I didn't know you had to lower the trans either but in all honesty it was no big deal. You just loosen up four nuts and the trans lowers just enough to squeeze the shifter into place. The trans DOES NOT have to come out, just lower a quarter of an inch or so. All total it took me about an hour and 15 min to completely swap the shifter including the time to jack up the car ...
