Common parts, lower production cost. Adequate stopping a stock vehicle with either pad. The larger rotor on GTs give better heat dissipation and a better range of stopability.
And, Ford probably realized the GTs are more likely to be driven harder and faster, and to provide additional margins of safe stopping, the GTs should have larger rotors.
