2010 GT vs 2011 V6
Will the new V6 be given the respect that it deserves now that its horsepower has been bumped up to 305, only 10 less than the 2010 v8 GT?
What's everyones thoughts on this?
Only reason I made this thread is because I always see how V6 owners are given somewhat less respect around the roads and are also always told to get a "GT".
So how does the 2011 V6 fit into all of this?

I think it was a great move in the right direction (especially since the camaro also has 300hp) for Ford. However, there will always be at least a little picking....like a little brother to big brother.
The V6 might stand around the same in HP as a 10 GT, but lacks in the torque dept. So the 10 GT will pull on the bottom end & stay ahead (all things equal), just my .02....
Again a HUGE move in the right direction for Ford with both the new V6 & 5.0GT.

PS Technology is a great thing. A 2011 V6 would have spanked my 1990 5.0 coupe when it was in stock form.

Also the 11 v6s has 2.73 gears stock while Gts have either 3.31 or 3.73s stock.
The 11v6 will not do 0-60 in 5.1 unless you have summer tires, 3.31 gears and the carbon fiber clutch plates (performance package). However I believe the 11 v6 w pp deserves much respect as it will handily out handle any mustang ever made in stock form and will out accelerate any previous gt that has 3.31 gears installed.
Having said that, most 11v6s will not have the pp and therefore will be easily beat by the majority of gts on the road. I estimate their 0 - 60 times to be closer to 6 seconds w standard tires and 2.73s.
The v6 is designed as a practical daily driver.

I just don't see a huge swing in the demographics. The GT guys will stay GT guys because, well, it's the hairy chested V8 thing. The 6'er might end up attracting some new blood first time Mustang buyers but essentially the same types will buy them as previously, ie, people using them more as DD's than for fun.

The 11 v6 has 280ft/lbs tq w premium gas. The 10gt has 335 ft/lbs tq w premium gas. My math has the v6 at 55ft/lb disatvantage not 40

Not trying to take anything away from the V6 but like the V6 camaro that people were saying would Smoke the 2010 or 05+ GT (and it didn't), I don't want to start that type of hype. It will make all mustang drivers look like idiots.

That's right, I forgot the 2010 has 335 tq vs 320 for the 09.

A 10 gt w track pack is very capable of beating an ss automatic in a drag race, just not the manuals w good drivers.
