So your rattle mainly occured in neutral with the clutch out? Mine only happens when engaging the clutch while taking off. Still can't figure out what is causing it. It's good to hear that no ill effects have resulted from your rattle so far though!

This was a TSB that I had the dealer fix on my car years ago. The only one thankfully.

It mainly rattles/chatters when going into neutral, but I have noticed it when shifting into first gear as well. No ill effects. =-)

kevinmalec- Thanks for chiming in. Glad to know that I'm not the only one!

simplexdesign- Which TSB did you have done that got rid of this noise?

The issue was a chewed up pilot bearing. I went ahead and installed a new clutch, replaced both the concentric slave cylinder and the pilot bearing. All has been well for a while now. Hope this help ya.

Thanks! I looked up some symptoms for bad pilot bearings... and it seems to be similar to my issue. Glad that fixed it for you! I'm kind of surprised that it's going bad at 20,000 miles, but at least it should be a relatively inexpensive repair.

Well the pilot bearing sits at the end of the end of the mainshaft. It requires the tranny to be dropped to replace it. Its about 4 hours of labor.

did you ever figure out what it’s from or the cause? Mine just started doing it today.
