replacing the air filter

Default replacing the air filter

can i drop a k&N cone filter like this one on the stock intake tube i need to replace my filter but am not ready to get a cai

Not from what I remember. The box isn't a tube inside. Just a panel area.

i mean remove the box then attach a cone filter to it. when you remove the box it looks like you can add a cone filter then tighten the strap

the only reason i wanted to see if i could is cause my air filter looks really bad and i was gonna replace it with a regular k&n drop in but i saw that cone at autozone and remembered my friend was running a cone on his stock intake but his was a 04 whats the diffrence between mine and his since i cant do it

Just get a drop in filter from GreenFilters USA (much better than K&N) (and you can pretend like your going green)

(their thing is Green by way of less air restriction, and less trash to throw away)

Don't waste your money. Doing it as you described will cause you to run lean and throw a CEL unless the cone filter doesn't flow any more than the stock air box does. And if the later is the case, you won't gain a thing. Secondly, even a no-tune-required stand alone CAI made for your car will only gain you 3-5 RWHP whereas a good CAI & custom tune will gain you 20-25 RWHP or more.

Drop-in air filters don't do squat either.

Do it right the first time. CAI & tune.

+1 on a good CAI and custom tune, anything else is a waste of money.
