Default SCT Xcal2 help

I found a good deal on a CAI/ tuner combo. The tuner is said to be unlocked, the tuner is SCT XCal2. the original owner of this setup got his tunes from american muscle. So i called them to see if i could register the tuner for my car and they told me they cant do that on the Xcal2 only on the 3. Can brenspeed do anything? What are my options? Do i need anything extra to get this on my car? Any help would be appreciated.

AM rocked a tune for me with my Xcal2 just a couple weeks ago. If you visit the SCT web site they'll tell you how to unlock it.

I might be wrong but I don't think you can use his old tunes on your car because the processor codes of the two cars are different. You will have to remove the old tunes from the tuner and then get a new tune emailed to you from American Muscle or Brenspeed. As long as the tuner is unlocked you should be able to download a new tune from AM onto it and then load it into your car. +1 on visiting the SCT website, it should give you the information you are looking for in the "tech support" section.

Also give Brenspeed a call and ask them questions. Since Doug joined the AM team, I'd say that either one can provide excellent tunes. The only way that I know of where a tune can be used on multiple cars is with canned tunes which are lame compared to a good custom tune so I wouldn't bother with the existing tunes. Wipe them and get yourself tunes for your car from AM or Brenspeed.

I was not wanting to use is old tunes. I called american muscle and wanted to register the tuner to my cars pcm (i think thats what it is) they said they can't do that on the xcal2 only the xcal3. I wanted to purchase there custom tune. But other people have done it maybe i got my word mixed up because the tuner is unlocked.

Once the xcal2 is unlocked, you can purge the old tunes and install new, custom tunes written specifically for your car. I'm not sure if you misunderstood what you were told or if the person didn't now their butt from their brain. Contact Brenspeed's tech people. They are some of the best.

The tuner isn't registered to a given car. It's the tune that's written against your PCM. THEN, once you load the tune, the tuner is locked to your car until you return to stock which unlocks the tuner.
