Default Gauge Questions

I've recently finished installing my Autometer Nexus gauges (Fuel Pres, Boost/Vac, Water temp), and I've been left with a few questions.

1) The fuel pressure reads 27/28 at idle. Shouldn't it be at 39 psi?

2) Typicaly, when you turn on the gauges and start the car, the boost/vac gauge reads proper vac just like it should, then when you turn the car off it reads 0 psi, like it should. The gauge seems to work perfectly most of the time, BUT, when you put the key in and turn the ignition on immediately, the boost/vac gauge reads almost double, sitting at 0psi at idle, then (roughly) 11psi when you turn the car off. What would be causing this? I would think its wired to the key-hot wrong, but the fuel pressure gauge (only other gauge hooked up right now) is totally unaffected.
I have the gauges wired to turn on/off with the radio, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

3) Where/how do I install the water temp sensor? I've looked around but couldn't find much info on where to install the sensor on out cars. A little guidance would be greatly appreciated =)

It sounds to me like you picked a bad voltage source for your gauges. I wired mine with a vampire fuse into the passenger side kick panel fuse box. Find a fuse that is keyed power source and tap in. I'll try to find my gauge install thread from a few years back, but bear with me because it's hard to find threads from before mustangforums was overhauled.

I stole this pic from another forum, but it is a close-up of the passenger side kick panel fuse box. Try running power from "A" or "C" with an add-a-fuse.

Thanks for the input. I try that when I get a chance to work on it. If I would have wired it there to begin with, but I didn't worry too much about it since it has a separate constant power source (thats wired to the battery).

No one has any ideas about the idle fuel pressure, or the water temp sensor?

my fuel pressure reads about 29-30 psi at idle.

from another thread somewhere on the forum , there is a port for the water temp sensor on the left hand side of the block by the exhaust header

i tried to remove it, but the bastard in there was stuck good and didn't want to come out

i just bought a water temp hose adapter from autometer and cut the upper rad hose and stuck it there

Thats what I was thinking about doing, but was wondering if there was another way that was easier or worked better. I thought I read that mounting it there causes a delay until the engine warms. Is this the one you got http://www.autometer.com/cat_accesso...il.aspx?vid=52?

The radio has an ACC Delay associated with it.
Thats most likely your problem.

Glad you know the technical term. All I could come up with was "bad voltage source", lol.
