that's the adapter

as for the delay, yes...the gauge won't read anything until the thermostat starts opening up

i mounted it in the upper hose as it measures coolant leaving the block, usually reading around 80 degrees Celsius

Thanks a ton for the advise. Hopefully I can get my car in the newly remodeled garage for some more wiring fun.

By chance, do you think I could find this adapter, or and equivalent, locally to save on shipping?

Well, I took your advice and rewired the key-hot for the gauges to a fuse in the passenger side kick panel (fuse 13 to be exact - fuse panel diagram) and that took car of that annoying false reading. Thanks a lot.

i got mine from a local parts store

damn expensive....$58 cad

don't forget the $1.99 teflon tape from the hardware store !
