Yeah, I guess that's all we can do. At least it's documented with them in case it ever actually harms something. Thanks, that's refreshing Does yours sound like this?

I wouldn't ignore it. I've had the same exact problem with my 07 GT/CS and ignored it. It just broke down yesterday on the interstate, and I'm thinkin it's not gonna be a cheap fix.

I have the same ticking. When accelerating slowly I can hear it if I'm next to a curb or something. So far I have no codes and everything runs smooth as butter.
If it helps any I have an x-pipe and those are notorious for making a slight ticking sound from what I've read around the internets.

Also my other car (GM brand) has a confirmed leak right in front of the cats and this makes a definate ticking sound.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! I hope it was a minor repair. If you haven't had it diagnosed yet, PM me your VIN and I'll review for any possible warranty coverage.

Hey Ricardo,

You may want to have the dealer inspect it, just to prevent any long-term issues. Let me know if I can help.

92hatchLX,

Motorcraft fluids are specially formulated for the best performance, so if you are having noise concerns, try switching to it.

Thanks Natasha, will do.

Also keeping on original topic, I checked out TSB - 05-15-8 and it says that the VCT will tick when the engine is at operating temp and at idle through1200 RPM. This is exactly what I experience...around 1200 RPM it goes away.

I was just going to point that TSB out. I don't remember the details but I believe it has something to do with a cam followers or related valve/cam part (typically on the drivers side).

Anyways, it's considered normal and I haven't seen anything with regard to long term problems (wear).
