Default Shifter Noise - Need help!

So I got a shorter throw shifter installed in my GT500. I chose to go with the GT500 KR shifter, as it has 25% less throw, is a ford part, and is warrantied now since installed by ford. I am getting a considerable amount of noise from it. I understand that short throws comes with more NHV, but it's the same shifter that's in the KR, and I know the KR owners weren't experiencing this type of noise with their brand new cars. The installer said there were some "silencing material" that was not reinstalled.

Did this guy not know what he was doing and not get proper install instructions, or is everyone else with a KR shifter and/or the KR itself experiencing this as well?

Are you using the FR shifter handle or the stock handle/****?

I have the FR handle/ball and it generates cabin noise that sounds like an air-leak; but it made noise with the stock shifter and FR shifter.

I don't have either one of those handles. I handle from the FRPP catalog with the black cue ball that says "Ford Racing" on the side. Liked it better...

Thats really strange.... I just helped my dad install the Shelby short throw shifter in his '09 GT500 and he is complaining about the same problem. He's thinking of switching to the KR, but now I'm not so sure.

Dont get me wrong, it's a great shifter...it's just noisy! I'm just thinking maybe the guy installed it wrong. I haven't heard of factory KRs having this noise problem.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had heard or experienced anythingl

You have the FR shifter handle then. It will generate noise regardless of the whether the FR short-throw shifter or staock shifter is installed since the handle is bolted directly to the shifter metal-to-metal. The stock handle and KR handle is wrapped in rubber or urethane in the case of the KR handle, which provides some noise isolation. The KR shifter handle, although it looks like the FR handle is not the same design below the boot.
