Default 2011 5.0 CAI Effectiveness?

Wanted to get your opinions on what kind of gains can be expected from a CAI on the 5.0? I am aware of the gains I got on my 2006 with a CAI and a tune, but I was under the impression that Ford improved on the stock airbox on the '10s and '11s and a CAI was now less of an upgrade. I am def getting a tuner, but just wondering if a CAI is now not needed...

*BTW, not looking to go FI.

From what I've read, Ford squeezed about all they could out of the 5.0. Maybe you get a couple of horses out of the CAI?

From the flow rates on C&L, et al, the stock intake flows less than the '10 intake, yet the car makes more HP, so I'm sure there's something gained by a better intake setup. Like previous years, a tune will be required to optimize it. I'm guessing the intake alone is 8-12 hp, the rest of the gains will be with the tune.
Personally, I'll probably do the tune/intake combo from one of the big guys when they become available.

SCT claims about 28 hp with the tuner but i dunno if that includes a CAI. Id shoot them an email and see what they say. I havent heard of many companies working with the 2011 much yet aside from them but then again i dont read much about them anyways.

Thanks Sam, that is what I was looking for. Def getting an SCT tuner, but I will probably wait on the CAI and see if anyone is getting any significant gains on top of the tune. I dont see the need to spend ~$200 for around 5 HP, but if it is more HP I will have to think about it.

And to kenthicken, that is simply not true. SCT has shown a 25/31 HP/Tq improvement over stock with a tune alone. I have also read other companies getting plenty more with just bolt-ons. SOunds to me like there is plenty left on the table for us to find. Now if the 5.0 is as upgradeable as the 4.6 is yet to be seen, but someone will surely find out. But maxed out... Not even close.

Ford got everything out the motor while keeping it fuel efficient, that was the main goal of the new motor/mustang to make great power and retain fairly great mpg ... but there are always ways to get more out of a motor than what the factory does

^^^ nailed it

just edit the last line...

"but there are always ways to get more out of a motor than what the factory does when you don't care how it affects fuel consumption"

I see you got a 5.0
Do you ride with the rag top down so your hair can blow?
Are the girlies on stand by waving just to say hi?

Did you stop? Or did you just roll by?
