Performance mods to 05???

I think i am going to go with a complete 1 3/4" stainless header kit with new cats and all new exhaust, and the what they call option E all from the rpm outlet. I am waiting for a reply from nino before i decide. It is my wifes car, and she wants more power, economy, and a nice sound. i personally have a pro streeter we show, this mustang stuff is brand new to me

Hi troyc,
Why are you getting an exhaust with primaries sized for a big block? The '05 GT is only a 281CID engine. All you will do is kill your torque with oversized primary tubes unless you are going to add a blower or a big shot of squeeze.
Cheers
I wasn't aware that 1 3/4" was considered big. I am new to this mustang stuff, i have 2 3/8 on my car. I understand exactly what you mean about the low end. Will i still get the same problem if i continue to restrict it with cats???
I am going with a Long tube headers from JBA along with an Hpipe most likely. And of course a CAI and an SCT2, maybe not depends on what the nearest dyno uses. I will use Steeda CAI only because its compatable with the Saleen SC.
Anyone have dynos on charge motion delete plates???

Hi troyc,
Even for a long tube design an all 1 3/4" are big tubes for primaries on this displacement eengine unless you are packing a big blower. A long tube header with step tubes would work O.K. at 1 5/8">1 3/4" but it would still be on the big side unless you had heads and cams to support the RPM to flow this volume. For a long tube on the 4.6l 1 5/8" is just about optimum for most street applications.
Cheers
f1 fan,
thanks for the info. The only other mods i planned was the package e, i have no desire to blow or turbo car, it is my wifes. Do you know which company makes a 1 5/8 header and then complete exhaust?????

Hi troyc,
For N.A. applications the 1 5/8" primary long tube headers are the best on the street. I like the JBA, Kook's and Stainless Works pieces. All fit well and can be ordered with X or H pipes with or without cats and O2 bungs to hook up to your existing stock mid-pipes and whatever rear mufflers you want to use. For shortys 1 1/2" primaries work best on the street and allow your to be emissions compliant. Look at JBA, they are really the only game in town from a performance standpoint.
Cheers

Across every board, it seems like people are going with the same basic, entry-level modifications (with occassional exceptions):
performance:
Aftermarket cold air intake;
Underdrive pulleys (can't do without the right equipment, e.g., belt puller);
