Default So I was bored (rear seat delete)

Ya I ran out of stuff to work on until my strut mounts get in next week so I decided to get rid of that unused back seat. I needed an excuse to pick up a few more tools also . Anyway it looks like after panels, vinyl and mounting hardware I will be looking only at about a 14-16 pound weight loss(36.5# removing everything but the rear shoulder reels, I tucked them behind the plastic panels wrapped in bubble wrap to keep them quite). You could lose more by using one of the premade floppy panels but I decided to give myself something to do. 1/4 mdf back, 1/2 mdf bottom and a 1/4 lip on the front of the bottom. Got to pick up some liquid nails and then the material next week. I am trying to figure what to use mounting wise. Here are a few pics of what I have so far.

*Note that I couldnt hold the panels up and take pics so they had dropped a little out of place during pics. I think the seat was 2 notches leaned back further than I usually have it and Im 6'7" with the seat all the way back for reference.*

ETA: I also need to pick up some sound deadner for the floor board back there.....man the shaft and rear end are pretty loud without the back seat in.

Why are you using 1/2 mdf on the bottom? That stuff gets pretty heavy, i would think the 1/4 would be fine if no one is sitting there and would do even more for your weight saving

1/4 would probably work fine. I didnt want any sagging and have plans for a bottle or two down the road right there
Might, just might put one 10" W7 JL sub on there also.....but bottles are more likely.

I guess I don't understand the purpose. Even if you don't plan to use the back seat it looks better than some MDF. At least with the rear seats you can still throw stuff in the back.. That little of weight reduction is completely negligible.
