Default 3000miles, Rear-end go's out...

Well Saturday night while making a U-turn I heard a whining noise in the rear-end. Sounded similar to power steering low on fluid, anyway I took it in yesterday morning and Ford called me last night and told me my Auburn gear was bad and they would be replacing the rear-end. I'll know more tonight when I pick it up.
They also said it wasn't the first to come in with this problem.

Keep an ear out...

You love caps loc, don't you, DROCKOFTX?

But seriously, a tech service bulliten says that this problem isn't always bad gears. Alot of times they install silencers on the rear end. Check with your dealer.

I also have a rather large whine in my rear end, but my car sees heavy track and street use.

I have to use caps loc with our computer system at work. I always forget to turn it off. Thanks for the input. Mine has made a couple trips to the track but I don't think that has anything to do with it. No serious mods yet.

This is a well known issue with the 2005's...there's a TSB on it right now.
