Yeah, I'm still not sold on the new rear styling of the 10'-11' cars so it will be an 09'

If I'm not sold on a styling changing within a year of the change, I will never be. I can only hope for something different in the next 3 years to improve upon it.

I'm in a similar situation. down the road to I build my motor and fuel system or do part out my GT and sell my GT for a GT500 when I want more power. I'm leaning towards keeping just the blower on the GT and not building it, then at some point when my second job starts to make money get the GT500 and sell the GT.

seems to make more sense to me to get the GT500 instead of building the GT but we'll see.

Just got back from the dealer and told them I want my old car back because this one is undriveable.
They get one chance to fix it, or it is gone.
Already?

I would build a GT man, its alot more unique then buying a GT500....

UGH!!!!! I'm still bent in this question!!!

Here is what I'm worried about.

every thread I read about the GT500 says it will not handle like a built GT in the corners due to the excess weight of the 5.4L iron block, heavier brakes, etc... I really love to carve corners on the back roads which was why I was leaning towards the GT build. BUT! I really love the idea of having OEM forged internals I could get CRAZY with on the power. What to do....what to do....

BTW, the job is working out very well.

I've invested in some parts for the GT, but I haven't reached a point of no return. I bought new wheels (not yet installed) but would easily go on a GT500. I did install improved suspension components, but I could return it to stock easily and sell the parts. I redid the exhaust, but I would also return that to stock. AHHHHH!!! I'm going insane!!!!

Overall, what kind of weight difference are we talking about?

GT500 versus a supercharged GT

Also, another con of the GT500....increased insurance premium and reduced mpg because it will be a daily driver until I buy a beater.

The GT500 is heavier sure, but you still can make it handle fine in the corners.
That would be with the help from Koni and better (and lowering) springs.
Unless you're gonna race that car, it's not an issue.

What I would do is debadge the car and use different wheels so you could get the sleeper look... WIN/WIN

Oh, and I agree with MGirl.

GT500 will hold value but the 15k you dump in the GT will be as good as gone.

Fwiw... Gt500 all the way
I had an 05 gt built it my way... Supercharger... Body kits custom pieces suspension upgrades you name it.
I sunk over 30k into... I loved it but I wanted more.. So I sold made back most of my money and bought my gt500....however buy it to drive it... Enjoy it.. Don't be dilusional about storing it as some sort of investment... It's resale value will be more in the future but it's still a car that was built to be driven

PS::: A few $$ in suspension upgrades and better tires than the stock rocks and my car will hug a corner pretty freaking tightly...no suspension or handling concerns at all

good luck no matter what you choose....

Guys, you finally swayed me....I'm going the GT500 direction, but I still have a question.

I will post it in the Shelby section. Thanks again for the mental help.

New Shelby GT350....Especially if you don't put heavy mileage on the car.
