Debate thread - Built GT or GT500
Hello fellow MF'ers
So I have a kick butt job with a sub contractor under BP and I'm getting an insane paycheck every week. This has prompted me to think about my next car, or maybe the same car with upgrades. I want this thread to be a debate between pros and cons of both choices before you.
If you could do either, would you do option 1 or 2?
1. Take the car in my sig with 32,000 miles and dump ~15,000 in upgrades for Whipple Twin Screw intercooled, forged engine swap, T6060 transmission swap, clutch upgrade, cam swap, aluminum driveshaft, wheel tire upgrade, exhaust, and other supporting mods.
2. Trade car in (perfect condition) and buy a 2009 GT500 with under 10,000 miles and mod it to give ~600 RWHP. That would be SC and UD pulley swap, CAI, tune, throttle body, intercooler upgrade, exhaust, etc....
I know the GT500 weighs more, but how much more than adding the weight to a normal GT? Maybe 200 lbs?
I can have a GT500 that performs or a GT semi-sleeper that would be undetected by most street challengers.
That's it guys, let the debate begin. I finally have the funds to build my dream car.

I would almost "GIVE" someone my 2011 GT just so that I dont have to drive the piece of junk any more.
Then someone else can worry about replacing the completely useless transmission for something that WORKS.
I have had the car for a week and I cant wait to get rid of it.
Just got back from the dealer and told them I want my old car back because this one is undriveable.
They get one chance to fix it, or it is gone.

It depends on what you want. If you didn't currently have the GT, getting the GT500 would be a no brainer, since you are going after the power levels. I was in the same boat as you 8 months ago. I opted to mod my GT because there were certain styling things I liked better on the GT, didn't care much for the stripes that come with the GT500, little things. What I do like about the GT500 is that it comes with that tr6060 6-speed transmission. Bottom line, what does your dream car look like, what do you want.

Well I seriously dont get it when people bash these kinds of threads. If you have a issue with it, dont reply, or read it. The guy is asking for everyone's opinion. Hence that is why we have this forum.. Now for my opinion. OP I would stay with the 08. If you can afford it, there's nothing like the satisfaction of modding (exterior and performance wise) your car the way that you want it... Just my two cents.. Good luck dude..
