Default 10-11 TPMS sensors work in an 07-09?

Anybody know if the newer style 10-11 TPMS sensors will work in an 08 GT? The reason I ask is because they are valve stem mounted sensors and therefore require no bands which equals less money. I just got a set of 08-09 Bullitt wheels and need to know which is the cheapest route to go. BTW, the Bullitt wheels are only $379 shipped from buyfordracing.com for a set of four. That includes center caps. Upgrading from the stock 17x8 wheels.

i beleive they use a different system and wont work on older cars. FWIW the style for your car is much cheaper, the lowset price i found for the sensors and stems on a 10 was $150 for four. they require special and specific stems and wont mount on normal stems at teh tire shop. IIRC the band style can be had for $70 a set, been a while since i looked at that price though.

Well they all work via the SJB (Smart Junction Box). The stems are included with the 10-11 style sensors. Just wondering if anybody with an 07-09 is using the newer style sensors.

i recall rading that the new sensors didnt work with teh older cars for some reason. it sort of like the fusion keyfob workign with 07 and older but not 05-06 cars. I'd call and ask the dealer if they will work. I dont recall the thread here where i read that the systems were different. Liek i said before, if its saving money you are looking for the new sensors are more expensive though. Good luck.

I suppose it would depend on the frequency that they operate on and if it's the same as those used on the 07-09's.

The fequency is the same....
315 Mhz.
But they wont work.
Its the digital coding method used.
The 05-09 TPMS sensors are of the 64 bit design.
The new sensors are using a 128 bit coding scheme.
Ford dont make em.
Someone else does and sells them to Ford.
The 05-09 sensors were designed by one company
and the 10-11 sensors are of a totally different maker
with totally different digital coding schemes...
Its not a matter to Ford if the 05-09 sensors are
compatable to the 10-11s.
Maybe for the modder, but not Ford.

The SJB can be loaded with the proper logic/software
to support both sensors but not at the same time.
In otherwords, its a software problem, not a hardware
problem when it comes to the SJB.
Change sensors, (hardware), change SJB software and they will work.
Finding someone to do this for you is nearly impossable.

Yep another software change, not a SJB hardware change.
Dealer will tell you whatever he thinks will get him the biggest sale.
