Default Dimensions of convertible's trunk

Hi there!

My wife and me are going to make a road trip through California, Nevada and Utah and since we live in The Netherlands (Europe) it's gonna be a special trip for us. So, as a fan of American cars, we decided to rent a Mustang convertible!

We stay in the States for about 3 weeks, so there's gonna be some luggage, but we only want to take one big suitcase. What I would like to know is if our large Samsonite suitcase is going to fit in the trunk? The dimensions of the suitcase are 56x82x34 cm (that's 22x32x14 inches).

I went out and measured. The problem isn't the trunk, its the opening. By my measurements, it would be too large. I would recommend two smaller bags...

Woops, good thing I checked

Hertz advised to bring a "medium and a small suitcase" but what's "medium"?!

Could you guys give me an estimation of size of that opening? We also have a small suitcase too (but that's an old one and hasn't got the mandatory TSA lock for traveling to the States) and since I just bought the big one I still might be able to swap it for a smaller one.

We just returned from a 2 week driving vacation of the western US in our '06 GT 'vert. Using the trunk & back seat, we had plenty of luggage room. Enjoy your trip. I think the Mustang is a great road car.

Thanks all for helping!

I was able to return the big (hard) suitcase and I'm going to exchange it for a "soft" suitcase that's a little smaller. I found an old link on another forum that gives me specific sizes of a suitcase that will fit and I will stick to that size

Of one thing I'm shure: we're going to enjoy the States and the Mustang! Let's hope the weather will help us along

We live in the south of The Netherlands, near Breda, about 5 miles north of the border with Belgium.

Cool.
If you ever want to get a Mustang back home, I can connect you with a good friend of mine in Belgium that has a Ford dealership at Soignies (1/2 an hour south of Brux).
He knows a lot of people at customs, and that helps...
