Do I need a new tune?
So I just got my Steeda CAI and SCT Tuner from AM. The day I ordered them I did the custom tune selection on Bama's website, and I swear I was paying lots of attention (even though pretty much everything I've got is stock). So I get the tuner, and check the info sheet that comes along and it says cold air box: stock.
So either I missed that selection, or assumed it would pair with the Steeda I ordered, I'm really not sure. I've already sent Bama an email explaining the same stuff, my questions are:
Should I install the CAI and tune anyway?
Do I really, really have to wait for new tunes?
Should I just tune it and wait for the new tune to put the cai in and re-tune?
I assume I can get the new tune somewhat quickly, so if it wouldn't hurt the car to be driven for like 30-50 miles with the Steeda CAI and stock tune I wouldn't mind that. Lemme know your thoughts?

So you want to use the Steeda CAI with a SCT tune that's for a stock airbox? I wouldn't do it, don't even know if the car would idle right. Call up AM and I'm sure they'll take care of you

You can load a custom tune but keep the stock airbox installed. When you receive the revised tunes for the CAI, then (no brainer) install the CAI and load the revised tune. If you install the CAI now with your current tune you'll likely throw a lean code.
I actually got the new tunes quite early this morning, Bama is ontop of their stuff. I just won't really have another chance to install it until tomorrow evening.
I'm also glad they sent that form and I checked it over, or I would have had the wrong tune and probably not been so happy if something went wrong.
I'll post later about what kinda results I feel like I get, as I won't have a chance to dyno, and I don't have an actual dyno for my stock numbers. I'm really looking forward to more throttle response, even though this mustang has much better response then any of my old granny cars (95 accord, 99 camry) I really want more!

Something I suggest for those going from stock to CAI & tune:
Immediately prior to the install, make an aggressive run and be sure to include a few WOT's from a dig and from a roll. Load the lowest octane tune and install the CAI and redo those runs. Then load the next higher tune and rerun. Same for the 3rd tune. It'll give you a your best opportunity to differentiate the differences between tunes including how each tune pulls compared to the other.

Then maybe a week from now I'll start filling it with 93 octane and swap to that tune after a few refills and see how my 93 race tune works out. Although I might need new tires for any kind of grip. (Stock tires at the moment).
