Pfft. Weak sauce. If you really want to take it to the ¨fo-really¨ level, you need to have multiple PC´s installed in your ride, so you can watch 9 movies at the same time, text, IM, google, listen to your tunes, recording the swerving with camera´s in place of your mirrors complete with gps coords/timestamp, and have the ODB-II interface hooked up so when you wreck you can reset the trouble-codes after the air-bags deflate. The last part after you post a new thread about how the installer for the new seat you bought had an annoying squeak that caused the wreck instead of the other things and then post pics of course.

I will see your smart-***, and raise you an infinity!

Nice install btw.

If your looking for the quickest, easiest method, crutchfield.com. Select the exact make, model, and year, buy the installation kit, it´ll come with the harness adapter and a sheet with instructions on what you need to do to install your new unit. This is just an replacement HU(Head-unit) your looking to put in, correct? If so, that´s your best bet to get it right the first time.

I have no idea how to install one on an 03 since it's an older model, but I'm sure if you do a little searching you'll be able to find the info you're looking for.

A few questions if I may...

1. Did you only change out the radio? Everything else is Shaker 500 factory equipment?

2. Did you use the built-in power of the Pioneer radio to power the front and rear 6x8's?

3. Did you keep the door subs connected through their factory amp?

4. Any hiss or engine wine coming through the speakers?

5. How does it sound compared to the Shaker 500?

Thanks,
JD
1. Only changed the radio, left the remaining Shaker 500 equipment.
2. The Pioneer radio simply turns on the factory amp, which powers the speakers, just like the Shaker 500 radio does.
3. See above.
4. No hiss or whine problems
5. It sounds significantly better, a lot better than I was expecting. The Pioneer clearly has better sound processing capabilities.

Since I also installed this stereo, and actually used the first post in this thread to help me, I'll also put in my opinion. I had the Shaker1000 which I thought was a great system, but the 4200 blew it out of the water, lol. The first thing I noticed was huge bass increase. I have the bass boost on 0, and the subwoofer level usually on 0 or +1, and it still hits way harder than the Shaker headunit. I still have the factory speakers/subs/amps, but I hope of swapping out the speakers and door subs ASAP

Also love the iPod capability

Thanks for the info! A nice mod for not a lot of money.

That there is a nice, clean install.
