Default installing a crate engine

Just out of curiosity....

Has anyone done a crate engine swap, or any engine swap in the V6?

Check out the latest issue of MM&FF. An 05 underwent a complete engine swap-out.

So what are you putting in it? The 3-Valve, the Cammer 5.0 or a 427?

I am looking at Ford performance engines....I would like to get the full sealed race engine....

If I got the Cammer 5.0, would I need to purchase a new tranny as well? I would think one would.

Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords. It's a magazine.

Can I ask why you are planning this swap? Wouldn't it make more sense to just buy a GT?

A crate engine and tranny still puts me under $4,000 the cost of a GT

Also, the crate engine I am going to purchase will be one with more HP and torque than a GT engine

$18000 versus $25000=$7000
If your $4000 under that means you found an engine and tranny for less then $3000. I would think you would also need to replace some of the stock parts in order to power a bigger engine. Are you going to do all the work yourself ? If you have to pay someone else then the price will continue to grow.
