Default Temporary Exhaust Silencer

I live in Germany and to pass a Bi-annual inspection the exhaust needs to be under a certain decible rating. I have read that stuffing steel wool into the mufflers is a good solution. Is this safe to do? Are there any other methods?

Whatever solution is used will only need to be for less than a day to pass the inspection. Thanks guys!

SLP Exhaust, I'm going to guess and say 90 db but it may be 85 db, I'll get clarification. I haven't had to get it inspected yet and the guy I bought it from had it shipping from the states brand new, so it never had to have it inspected either. I just know it's going to be too loud.

How do they test for this...is it at idle or do they make you do WOT passes while they sit there with a decibel meter?!?!? LOL!

I don't have the stock mufflers anymore.

And to clarify it's 91 db. The inspection guys here are pretty ridiculous towards Americans. It's two old *** German dudes who drive your car into a garage of all places, rev your car to between 3-4k RPM and measure it that way...

They db test during a rev??? To 3 or 4k!? Sound tests in the states are 1800rpm.... I would think most aftermarket mufflers even with cats are close to that when they rev that high

ouch, 91dp isnt really that loud, dont get me wrong, all the saftey nuts will compare it to a shotgun or something, but its surprisingly easy to hit. Maybe buy some stock mufflers off someone? Even then, if they rev it that high, as others have said, you would get close to that at stock.

Did more research, it's 95 db, and I wish I could move. Kind of hard to do in the military, I don't have much of a choice lol

I'm just going to try and see if it passes, if not I'll stuff some steel wool in the tail pipe for 10 mins and let them do their ridiculous thing.

Thanks for all the help guys. German laws are incredibly weird...
