Default Fuel pump lesson

Any future upgrades for me is going to require fuel pump work. I'm a cheap bastard and shelling out $1000+ for a new GT500 dual pump is not for me. I do not know very much about the system, so please educate me.

#1 Is it possible to swap out the pump itself with the likes of a higher flow Walbro pump?

#2 The 'dual pump' GT500 one appears to be just 2 regular pumps. If I were to get my mitts on a second stock pump, would it be feasible to splice it in with my current one, or is there more to it than that?

The GT500 dual pump setup costs slightly over $700.

#1 - I think it would have to be a pretty specific pump setup, as the inlet/outlet is designed for specific locations and doesn't appear to be the same as the Universal Walbro's.

#2 - The GT500 setup has a whole separate electronic controller for the second pump. Also, the housing is a bit different to accommodate the second pump, and I really can't see a way you could just splice one in.

You may be cheap, but come on. You've already spent thousands on getting it to where it is. Why skimp on the last bit to make it safer in the future? That's asking for trouble. If you can't afford to do it right, you really can't afford to do it again .

Slightly over $700 for you, but in Canada it's over a $1000. Or $700 US + currency conversion + shipping + customs assaulting.
But aside from that, if the electronics controller is separate/different and it's not just duplicated, then that's something I want to dabble in with trying to make it work. If it was that simple then everyone would be doing it, but I thought I would ask to make sure. I'm cheap, but I want to do the best job I can on it. I just hate spending money when I can do something myself that works just as well.

Summit sells the kit for $699.
Comes with dual pump sender, driver module and wiring harness. Plug and play.
The hassle of being cheap isnt worth it in this case. Trust me. My Procharger came with an additional pump to wire in. It is a bit of a mess to do, and a pain in the butt to deal with. That set-up went bad, so I got the GT500 kit.
Sometimes you gotta suck it up and do the right thing the first time. Once you do, it's all good.

You can use a walbro pump set-up. However, it would require the purchase of another fuel hat to work properly. Those fuel hats can be bought from Fore Precision for $450. Plus the cost of 2 walbro 255lph pumps at $125 ea. Savings evaporates and it still wont just bolt in. You need fittings, hoses, clamps, etc. Cut fingers and cuss words are an added benefit not included in the purchase price.
