Default I installed 3.73 FRPP gears they WHINE

Hello every one I got my 2007 Mustang GT back in Jan I have done a few things to i my most recent was a set of FRPP 3.73 Gears I installed them my self. I set the back lash at 0.013 and all new bearings I am getting a little whine it is not in 1st gear at all but the high side of 2nd all in 3rd and 4th and not in 5th at all. There is not much when I am accelerating but on coast its most noticeable I am not sure why its doing it the contact pattern was great.
I hope someone can help me out.

gears a bitch, i would only trust a pro and even they cant get it right. .013 seems a little high i think. best bet is live with the whine

All I can say is it happens. Like Matt said, gears are a beyotch and you have that chance of whine with every install. You can try tearing it apart again, but if you drove your car already, the wear pattern will have started and there is a chance that you will not be able to stop the whine without using a new gear set. IMO, live with it, especially if it's just on decel. Most get it when accelerating. Have you gone through the heat cycles? I believe Ford allowed .008 to .015, that is a huge range. Mine was installed towards the low end so the gears would ease in.

A good gear guy will be able to fix the whine for you. Its a back lash problem and if you are not a pro at setting it they will whine on you. Gears will not whine at all when installed correctly so for "anyone who gets gears done and they whine they were put in wrong and take them back to be corrected ASAP"

Thanks. What heat cycles ? Also I have only put about 100miles on since the install if I took it back apart would it do any good I could tghten up the backlash if it would do any good to do that. One other thing when I put it all back in I was not Abel to get the factory shim back on pass side but I did not change the carrier bearings. The factory shim was .275 thick I ended up with shim that equaled up to .266 could that pose any problem ? I did check and see if there was any movement of the carrier left to right and there was none at all.

i installed 4.10's on my truck and they have been going strong for 2 years..... no whine. it was my first time doing it, so you dont have to be a pro...
