new ebrake cable, still doesnt work
Ok so my front ebrake cable snapped. So I ordered a new handle with cable attached to it. I just got finished installing it and It clicks up but doesnt hold at all. It snapped because the calipers froze over the winter. Do you guys think I am going to need to get new calipers or what? Im lost here, thanks
I installed a new ebrake handle witch comes with a new cable which connects to the two rear ebrake cables. Im guessing I need new calipers because they are still frozen or something. Or I need new rear cables. I never knew an ebrake would be this much of a pita
I don't know how your calipers will remain frozen, why don't you run it by Just Brakes or some other similar shop. Sounds like it would be a cheap fix or they can atleast tell you whats wrong with it.
The rear cables are the part that freeze in the winter. You're blaming the wrong part for the freezing.
TSB 06-5-4 is the TSB describing the frozen ebrake, and what parts are the culprit.

Yes I know the rear cables are the tsb, but I thought they make the calipers freeze? But if just the front cable snapped, shouldnt the rear cables still be good? just in the winter there is a risk of them freezing again.. I know I probably need new rear cables or calipers I just dont know which

I just read the tsb again and yea I was wrong, i thought it said it caused the calipers to freeze. Ok so I guess I gotta change both my rear cables now. For some reason I thought it said that the boot on the rear cables can allow water it and some how freeze the calipers. I didnt know it actually cause the cables to "bind up"
