Mileage on the 2011 GT?
Just wanted to see what you guys were finding in terms of mileage estimates for your new 5.0s.
So far I've only used the onboard computer's estimate (which I do realize isn't all that precise) but I just wanted to know if everything is where it should be or not. I do basically completely city driving so far in the car, and living on a college campus makes stopping and accelerating an every block ordeal.
My computer is throwing out 15.8 MPG and I should mention that I'm driving pretty gently, occasionally I throw in a spirited start but most times I baby the throttle around here. The number just seemed a little low to me, but for all I know I might be wrong. Looking forward to hearing back from you guys though
Thanks,
Pd

Be sure you're resetting the on-board at each fill-up in order to get the most up-to-date data. If the on-board is anything like the ones in the 05-10's, it's off to the conservative (high) side by about 1-2 MPG. 15.8 is a bit low but could be normal for largely stop-and-go driving. Do a fill-up and then hop on the interstate for about 100 miles and see if that boosts the average by the next fill-up.
It takes a few thousand miles of varied driving to get a good feel for what your car's average MPG is. Even then, there are so many variables that you can't point to an exact number at any given time. But being able to distinguish REAL changes will keep you on the lookout for problems.

Occasionally I take it down route 7 as well. If you're familiar with this road, you know that it's just Traffic light to traffic light. Basically 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear, stop. Repeat.
I do accelerate quite rapidly though. I get to use my car 2 days a week so I try to enjoy it while I can. For what it's worth I had the same average in my 07.

I actually expected to see numbers a bit better than the earlier 4.6 models, but these seem to be worse. That's interesting. My 07 GT with 3.55 gears and manual transmission normally stays between 23-24mpg, but almost ALL of my driving is with the cruise control on.
I also reset the mpg's on the computer after each fill-up...I'm kinda **** about that for some reason...and occasionally I check the actual numbers against the computer and I've never found them to be that far off. Maybe a little, but not 1-2 mpg like someone else mentioned...and if you have a programmer, you can get real close by adjusting the wheel diameter.
Would like to see what others report on this, I had almost convinced myself as much as I drive that the extra mpg would somehow make it worth the money to trade up....now I think it would be a mistake based on that.....although the fun factor of the extra 100hp may still be worth it!
