Default Power Steering Issues....

Hey Guys... I have been issues with my power steering recently. It isn't happening all the time, but the power steering is cutting in and out. The fluid is up to where it should be, but i have never changed out the fluid. The car has about 65k miles on it. Do you think a flush of the fluid would help correct the issue? Power steering pump going bad?

Thanks in advance!

It's one big belt. If it's never been replaced, do so just for peace of mind. Any certain conditions that it cuts out?

Has the PS pump been making any abnormal noises?

I would pull the hose off near the power steering rack. This will allow the fluid to drain from the reservoir. Then you can refill it with fresh Mercon V type fluid. If you want something easy to buy to fill it with, pick up some Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.

I would try to flush the entire system first and see what happens.

I seem to notice it more when I'm at low RPM's...

The belt only has about 10k miles on it and is showing no real signs of wear.

- unleashedbeast, no i havent been hearing any strange noises... i think i'm going to try draining the reservoir and adding the Mobil 1 synth...

Thanks guys... I'll keep you posted
