I took my car to tuffy to have an oil change and tire rotation today. Later, I went to pick my brother up and noticed a lot of squeaking coming from the left front of the car. Every time I went around a turn or went over a bump, infact. So when I got out, I noticed that the squeak happened when I closed my door, so I put some WD40 on the hinges and tried it again. Still squeaked. I called up my parents and they told me that it was because the tires, being rotated, were worn differently and would squeak a little for a few days. When I told them it was happening when my car was parked and not moving, they were stumped.

My neighbor said it was definatly not the door, but couldn't identify where it might be coming from.

Anyone know what could be wrong?

 

Sounds like your struts, I would guess it had something to do with lifting the car and the struts/shocks fully decompressing with the wheels hanging. I would ride on it for a few days to see if it goes away, if not take it back to the shop. Thats why I do my own oil changes, rotations, ect... So I know if anything gets screwed up I can only blame myself and I know what was done to my car.

 

Did they take it for a joy ride and hit a curb??

Mmmhmm. I'll call em up early tomorrow and talk with them, so they can't claim that I did something to cause it after I drove it around for a while.

 

Well the sound seems to have gone away, so I guess everything is ok.

 

Close, it's the springs mounted on the struts. Anytime you lift a vehicle for more than a few minutes, the springs may need to reseat themselves. this can take anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days.

 

They have to reset and resettle, just like putting springs on...the weight of the car will settle
