If you want to stagger, the simplest thing is to match the GT500 wheels (18 x 9.5) and tires (255/45-18 & 285/40-18). Both of those tire sizes are listed for fit to a 9.5" rim.

If you're going to stagger the rims as well, I'd go 9's or 9.5's up front and 10's out back.

I agree with 18inch wheels. It's the perfect size for the new mustangs. 20's are just for looks.

I hate to go with the crowd but definitely go with 18's. Besides the improved ride, they'll give you the more aggressive look from having some sidewall. See my sig.

i went from 20" razors to 18" cobra R's
ride is significantly better, smoother
much better for a DD.
i have 255/45 in front and 295/45 in back. i like the big sidewall look better too.

My ride definitely got smoother on the 19" wheels. Don't know that I could ever go back to 18" with the current style of my car, but if I change it in the future it could be a possibility. I have ideas. Lol.

Everyone here is correct, and I've sent ya a couple PMs as well. Anything with a larger sidewall is gonna soak up the rough stuff a little better. But, going against the grain a little, the biggest difference is the actual tire brand and model. A hard compound tire(high mileage) is going to ride stiff. A soft compound will ride better but not last as long. So far the best ride/longevity/traction tire for me has been the Invo in 20s, the Eagle F1 Supercar 180 UTQG in 18s. As long as your car isn't lowered you can hop up to a 295-35-20 and even a 315-35-20. In an 18, your gonna want to stick with a 285-40-18 if your lowered and can go to a 295-45-18 if it is sitting stock. Either way, feel free to continue sending me PMs and I can always give you my input.

Ummm, tire structure probably has a bigger influence on ride quality. You don't see it (hopefully), so it's more difficult to understand its contribution.

Hi John,

I really do appreciate all of your help. My first concern was that the 18 inch Razors would clear the GT500 Brakes (I ordered the brakes last week) with the 24mm offset. You confirmed they would. Thank you!!!

I am going to sell my 20 inch Razors that are on the car now. I looked and found they are 24mm front and 40mm rear, so if I were to stay on the 20's I would be all set. But the ride is just too harsh for me, plus I have seen other Stangs with the 18's now and I think the bigger sidewall actually looks better. Of course it is all personal taste.

John, I would buy the 18's from you, but you said they are hard to get and you don't have them anymore. I havent bought them yet, but I have called and emailed 10 different places and they all have them in stock. 18x9 Razor Gun Metal with 24mm front and 40mm rear setup.

Are you sure you don't have them? I would like to give you my business since you helped me so much on this.

Off topic back at ya - think 4-bolt main 350, Accel SuperRam EFI and AFR heads under the hood for starters. Built for autocross and generally hard cornering instead of what most people build them for.

Poor thing runs on 15" wheels, which used to seem big and the only halfway to half decent tires I can get for it anymore only come in up to 225/60-15
